Alessandro Butti was an Italian type designer who lived and
worked mostly in Turin. Butti was born in 1893, and lived until the year 1959.
In Turin, he was the art director of the Nieblo Type Foundry. Microgamma is
Buttis most famous face, and has been used in movie titles such as The
Incredibles and Star Trek. Butti collaborated with Aldo Novarese on many of his
works, and when Butti passed away Novarese added a lower case to a project they
had been working on which is now called Eurostile. Both fonts are sans-serif,
and have extended and bold lines.
