Linn Boyd Benton is tthe designer of thw classic original Century typephase back in 1894 . He is American and he also invrnted the Benton Pantograph. In 1892 he joint a groub of mergers forming the American Type Founders Company and he became the chief consultand .The Bentons and ATF are largely responsible for the bringing of sans serif type into mainstream design usage.. Century is used for periodicals or any kind of literature. It's a foundry father for  Linotype, Monotype, Ludlow, phototype, transfer type, digital type, and Xerox-like 'toner type'.
