Chapter 2 - Carreon

Chapter 2:
The chapter begins with a bit of history of how type transitioned from written handwriting and how that is now the primary element for creating letterform. This chapter presents quite a lot of vocabulary – this is necessary in order to introduce a novice to typography vocabulary and orient the reader with the language that will be further used throughout the rest of the book. The chapter explains optical relationships within a font and how all letters in the same font and pt size may not exactly be equal in size, some letter may require to fall just a little shorter or longer than the baseline to create the illusion that all letters are the same size. The chapter also explains a bit of history on the main typefaces, this helped me picture the different type of styles a font could hold even in the font at a quick general glance make look the same or very similar to another font, there are differences in particular letters and serifs.
