Chapter 4 & 5 Review-Cynthia

Chapter 4
Chapter 4 discusses  the three main elements of legibly, which are: contrast, simplicity, and proportion. These three elements can be adjusted according to a designer's style. When breaking down the actual anatomy of a text, it can be easily confused with other letters that may have similar aspects; it's important for a typeface to be distinctive and identifiable. I found it very interesting that the upper parts of the letters are much more distinguishable than the lower parts . Over all this chapter was very interesting and I wasn't aware that there is so much more to just picking a typeface, it must be legible and visually appealing and of course justified or not.

Chapter 5
Grids are probably one of my favorite tools, and of course important for designers when making layouts and typefaces. Grids are used when type is involved (using a mathematical formula) for precision. Without a grid layouts may look strange and not very visually appealing to the eye.
