Ch 1,3 & 6 Marcella Denigris

Chapter 1 talks about the history of typography and how it has changed since the beginning. It was interesting to see the different styles of typography that were used back in the 1500s. Some of them were hard to read, but with minor adjustments they could be really cool type faces.

Chapter 3 focused on the importance of the relationship between the text and syntax. If both text and syntax are being portrayed correctly, than the piece is effectively communicating with the viewers. In order for this to happen, the designer must pay attention to every detail such as margins, columns, negative space, etc.

Chapter 6 talked about how typography conveys messages. Typography communicates as a language to viewers and sometimes the type alone has more of a message than the actual word itself.
